Linda and Joseph Ricchio

Linda Ricchio (b. USA, 1956)
Joseph Ricchio (b. USA, 1955-2024)

Joseph and Linda Ricchio both graduated from California State University, Long Beach; Joe with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, and Linda with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. Together they designed The Ricchio Chair for Knoll, a contemporary yet timeless piece whose comfort, grace, and carefully contoured lines earned it the 1991 ROSCOE Award. The success of the Ricchio Chair prompted Knoll to collaborate twice more with Joseph Ricchio.

Joe attributed his design sensibilities to his educational background and time spent studying art and design in Florence, Italy. Following a four-year tenure as a product and graphic designer for a southern California design consultancy, he established Ricchio Design. A passionate educator, Joe later returned to his alma mater as a faculty member of the Design Department at California State University, Long Beach. He also taught at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Linda Ricchio is a member of the Industrial Design Society of America. In addition to her collaboration on the Ricchio Chair, her experience spans interior design and space planning to magazine design and independent art direction.
